Math Standards

Trimesters 1-3

  • Solve problems in both mathematical and every day contexts.
     
  • Communicate mathematical thinking clearly and concisely.

Trimester 1

  • Represent linear relationships using equations, graphs and tables.
     
  • Solve linear relationships.
     
  • Recognize and write expressions for linear and non-linear patterns.

Trimester 2

  • Understand and apply the Pythagorean Theorem.
     
  • Recognize and write expressions for exponential patterns.
  • Apply rules of exponents.

Trimester 3

  • Demonstrate an understanding of transformations, congruence and similarity.
     
  • Solve and analyze expressions, including those involving group symbols.

Science Standards

Trimesters 1-3

  • Understands and applies the process of scientific inquiry

Trimester 1

  • Understands the properties of matter

  • Relates atoms and molecules to elements and compounds

Trimester 2

  • Differentiates between physical and chemical changes

  • Describe motion in terms of position, direction and speed

  • Graphs and interprets distance vs. time graphs

Trimester 3

  • Describes types of energy and energy transformations

  • Relates heat transfer to particle motion

  • Describes the foundations of economic systems throughout history.
     
  • Uses maps, graphs, timelines & other sources to interpret events.

Language Arts Standards

  • Reads, comprehends, and analyzes a variety of grade level texts.
     
  • Writes with focus, organization, and supporting details.
  • Analyzes the elements of literature to demonstrate comprehension
     
  • Uses standard English conventions in writing, revising and editing.
